Our History

At Ballard Minor Funeral Home we work hard to ensure that your experience with us is respectful and as painless as possible. By serving all faiths we ensure that your loved ones’ service is conducted in a manner that is consistent with their beliefs. A strong emphasis is placed on customer service at Ballard Minor Funeral Home by being available 24 hours a day and remaining flexible to ideas and specific requests that our clients have. Our family's personal approach helps to create a warm, friendly and family atmosphere while tradition plays an important role as well.
Even though tradition remains a strong focus, at Ballard Minor Funeral Home we embrace and incorporate technology in creating meaningful celebrations.

Our commitment to you does not stop there, however. We offer community based grief counseling sessions which are designed to help you cope with the loss of a loved one.

We provide executors with information that helps guide them through the process of handling an estate.

At Ballard Minor Funeral Home, the families we serve are important. If you would like to speak with us, please give us a call at your convenience.

Ian is long-time resident of Haldimand County. In 1974, he moved with his parents, Martyn and Brenda, to the village of Jarvis where Martyn opened a brand new funeral home. Ian is the eldest of 4 siblings and after working out of the area for several years, in 1996 he returned to and currently resides in Jarvis with his wife, Lisa. Together they raised 4 children, Rebecca, Sarah, Michael and David. In 2004, Ian and Lisa purchased Cooper Funeral Home in Jarvis from Martyn and Brenda.
Ian and Lisa, along with his parents, continue to serve the Jarvis community and surrounding areas with a dedication to compassionate care and personalized service, as described by our founding motto:

"Serving You As We Would Be Served"

On May 1, 2018, 23 years to the day that Gord Minor purchased Ballard-McDonald Funeral Home from Dennis McDonald, Ian and Lisa purchased the Ballard Minor Funeral Home from Gord and Bev Minor.
