Dorothy Miller

Obituary of Dorothy Miller

Passed away at Northland Pointe, Port Colborne, on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 in her 103rd year. Beloved wife of the late Victor Miller (2013). Dear mother of Charles (Joan) of Fonthill. Loving grandmother of Josh (Heather) of Calgary and Jessica Stephenson (Tim) of Fonthill. Great-grandmother of Ted and June Stephenson. Dorothy was born and raised in Trenton, Ontario where she began her musical career as a church organist and piano teacher. She met Vic at the Trenton air base during WWII. They married and moved first to Dunnville and later to their adopted hometown of Fort Erie, where she shared music by teaching piano. Many Fort Erie baby boomers got their musical grounding sitting at Mrs. Miller’s piano. Dorothy was also active in community life through service organizations and her church. She was particularly fond of her service with the Canadian Red Cross and Fort Erie Historical Museum. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will take place at a later date. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Dorothy are asked to consider the Canadian Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Society.
